What I found by reading the Chronicles of Nick: Infamous was that I want to strive to be more like Nick. He is selfless, thinking of others first and he is kindhearted, and wants to help others in need. Nick is extremely stubborn and always does things his way, which are final. Nick has strong ideas, thinks he knows best and doesn't let anyone sway his opinion. He is proud of his mother and would protect her to no end. When his mom had to work at a strip club to put him through school, he would walk his mom home at 3:00 AM, on a school night.
This book has a strong anti-bullying theme. At one point, Nick saves Brenna when she is in despair. After Nick leaves, Brenna writes about her feelings about being bullied. What I learned from Brenna was that bully's are cowards, and they either only know hatred and bullying as a way to protect themselves, or they are jealous of you, and this is how they make themselves feel better. Brenna's writing informed me how it feels to be bullied, and it made me more aware so I could help other people. Her writing was so powerful that I've shared it with other people, including my mom.
I think other students would enjoy this book, because even though it is a fantasy book about the supernatural, it is also about things students face every day, like friendship and the struggle between good and bad decisions.
